    Sick Kitty

Well, I hinted at this entry a while ago, and I guess it's time to write it. Kamir, my 11 year old baby crotchety Siamese has a shriveled kidney and a lot of the symptoms of Feline CRF – Chronic Renal Failure. We took him to the vet because he was due for his yearly vaccinations, but also because he had been waking us up around 3 am with extremely congested breathing and coughing. We were also planning to have him xrayed to find out just how bad his arthritis was. The vet never actually said the words “chronic renal…

    On a lighter note

I am deeply disappointed in the new Star Trek series, Enterprise. I mean, even Voyager isn't that bad. The new show Smallville is excellent, however.

FAA May Start Using Scanner That Looks Inside the Body (washingtonpost.com) A low-dose X-ray body scanner, first used at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport to look for illegal drugs hidden inside the body, may someday be put to work at U.S. airports looking for weapons and explosives.

You think I'm exaggerating about the danger here?

News&features – October 25, 2001 – Homeland Insecurity I didn't expect to be ordered to destroy photographs by an irate National Guardsman. I didn't expect the Los Angeles Police Department to confiscate and read the notes I'd taken on my trip. I didn't expect to be questioned by the FBI and detained for nearly three hours for no probable cause. I didn't expect any of these things, but that's what happened. As I followed my fellow passengers up the jetway and into the LAX terminal, I had no idea I was stepping onto the War on Terrorism's first domestic battlefield,…

Look out kids. Here it comes.

Terror Act Has Lasting Effects WASHINGTON — Legislators who sent a sweeping anti-terrorism bill to President Bush this week proudly say that the most controversial surveillance sections will expire in 2005. Senate Judiciary chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont) said that a four-year expiration date “will be crucial in making sure that these new law enforcement powers are not abused.” In the House, Bob Barr (R-Georgia) stressed that “we take very seriously the sunset provisions in this bill.” But the Dec. 2005 expiration date embedded in the USA Act — which the Senate approved 98 to 1 on Thursday — applies only…

    Ridiculous

Bowdlerized by Microsoft Was the world's foremost software designer worried about offending dullards, dunces and dolts? Are there actually people out there who identify themselves that way? Even if so, you wouldn't think they'd represent Microsoft's target demographic. More troubling, if an acute sensitivity to people's feelings had winnowed down Word 2000's thesaurus options, what changes loomed in the future? Word 2000 already changes “thier” to “their” as I type. Would the next generation evaporate “moron” from the screen the moment it appeared? NY Times editorial: If you don't have an account, use “bogusname” for name and password.

    Blah.

said So, c'mon. Tell me what you're doing with your day. Enquiring minds want to know. Um… nothing, actually. Literally, nothing. I took a shower. I haven't eaten anything yet. I fed Kamir his special food. More on him later when I feel I can write about it. I updated my online wedding album, so it looks like the other photo albums. I started a test version of the greymatter weblog I downloaded, but my site is crapping out on me. I hate websolo. I need a new webhost. My kitchen needs cleaning. I haven't done it. My house needs…

    Major update

..to my website: Rob and Jen's Place. I'm extremely pleased with it because I messed with some seriously funky templates to make it all purty. Also within the last couple of weeks I've completely overhauled the entire bloody thing, including expanding the photo album. JoeBob says check it out! :)
