Book 10 – The Shadow Rising (The Wheel of Time, Book 4) – Robert Jordan (finished 02/13/2004)

“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose in the Mountains of Mist. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.”

Epic fantasy, good vs. evil, yadda yadda yadda – continuing with no end in sight. Unfortunately, I'm addicted and am waiting somewhat impatiently for the next WOT installment – book 11.

Book 11 – Syrup – Max Barry (finished 02/13/2004)
Max Barry's first book, this was not quite as funny as Jennifer Government but still a very good read.

From the back cover:
When Scat comes up with the idea for the hottest new soda ever, he's sure he'll retire the next rich, savvy marketing success story. But in the treacherous waters of corporate America there are no sure things–and suddenly Scat has to save not only his idea but his yet-to-be-realized career. With the help of the scarily beautiful and brainy 6, he sets out on a mission to reclaim the fame and fortune that, time and again, eludes him.

This brilliantly scathing debut is a hilarious send-up of celebrity, sexual politics, corporate America, and the fleeting status that comes with getting to the table first–before the other guy has you for lunch.

Book 12 – Animal Appetite – Susan Conant (finished 02/15/2004)
I used to say I didn't like mysteries. Then I'd read a mystery, and say, ok, I liked that one, but I don't like mysteries. I think I've accepted the fact that yes, I do like mysteries.

Susan Conant's mysteries are fun reads – they're sorta like “The Cat Who…” with dogs instead.
