This was a nice weekend. Especially so, as opposed to last weekend. :)
Saturday, we did absolutely nothing productive, except feed ourselves and the brats. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. It was lovely.
Today was such a gorgeous day that we decided to go to the Austin Zoo. Sunny, cool, breezy, not hot and humid – just the way I like it. The Austin Zoo is pretty cool, because it's a rescue zoo. The animals there have been rescued from various situations – laboratory animals, abused animals, zoo surplus, released exotic “pets”, etc. For instance, one of the lions was confiscated from a drug dealer in Dallas – she was being used as a guard cat.
I took tons of pictures – about 135 or so, in fact. For the first time, I filled up my camera's memory card! That was exciting. :) I'll put some up tomorrow – it's too late now to mess with them.
The leopards were really playful today! We watched them chase and pounce on each other. That was really cool. One of the leopards was startled by a lizard that started running right under her feet – she jumped up and sideways. It was quite amusing to see this huge cat startle just like Mai-Lyn does.
After the zoo, Rob took me to Lucky Dog for a chicago style hotdog. Bliss. Then we wandered around CompUSA for a bit and headed home.
Movies we watched this weekend: Looney Tunes – Back in Action, Hulk, and Spiderman. They were perfect – simple, mindless fun.
Looney Tunes was actually a lot better than we'd expected. The plot was predictable and extremely thin, but all the little bits of the movie were hysterical! My favorite scene I think was the one in the cafeteria where various characters were having lunch. The “real” Shaggy (Casey Kasem) threatening the movie Shaggy, Porky Pig and Speedy Gonzales commiserating about political correctness, the WB frog, the sheepdog and the wolf – it was perfect.
Hulk was enjoyable, but a little disappointing. Lou Ferrigno's cameo was funny. Spiderman was great. Loved it, especially Spidey's first attempts at web-swinging. Hey, style's got to be polished, dunnit?
Anyway, it was a great weekend. Now though, I think I need to go snuggle with my husband. 'Night all!
