Last night was fun. I went to a book club meeting with real people! A woman that
25. Oryx & Crake – Margaret Atwood (finished 04/02/2004)
Wonderful book. End of humanity, earth a bio-wasteland – good stuff. Gotta love those dystopias! Atwood is a fantastic author.
26. Wizard's First Rule (Sword of Truth, Book 1) – Terry Goodkind (finished 04/05/2004)
27. Stone of Tears (Sword of Truth, Book 2) – Terry Goodkind (finished 04/10/2004)
28. Blood of the Fold (Sword of Truth, Book 3) – Terry Goodkind (finished 04/12/2004)
29. Temple of the Winds (Sword of Truth, Book 4) – Terry Goodkind (finished 04/15/2004)
30. Soul of the Fire (Sword of Truth, Book 5) – Terry Goodkind (finished 04/19/2004)
31. Faith of the Fallen (Sword of Truth, Book 6) – Terry Goodkind (finished 04/27/2004)
32. The Pillars of Creation (Sword of Truth, Book 7) – Terry Goodkind (finished 05/03/2004)
Some folks say the Sword of Truth series is just Wheel of Time in another wrapper. Maybe, maybe not, but I like 'em. I tore through the ones we have pretty quickly – there's one more that we haven't picked up yet. We're waiting for paperback. Book six swung hard into Objectivism, (not that there's anything wrong with that) and Book 7 barely had the main characters in it at all. I'm not saying I didn't like them, but the series is on probation. We'll see how Book 7 goes – if it stays too preachy, I may bail on the series.
33. Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal – Eric Schlosser (finished 05/06/2004)
Fascinating and horrifying – makes you think very hard about the things you buy and why. I'd definitely recommend this book.
34. Brave New World – Aldous Huxley (finished 05/08/2004)
A classic dystopia, always a good read.
35. To Ride Pegasus – Anne McCaffrey (finished 05/09/2004)
The first book in the author's “Talent Saga” – psychic ability is scientifically detectable and trainable. It's a fun read.
36. Robot Visions – Issac Asimov (finished 05/15/2004)
Asimov's robot stories and essays. It does include all of I, Robot, but there's a couple of other robot stories, and of course several essays Asimov wrote in the 70's and 80's. If you're an Asimov fan, definitely worth reading.
37. Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight : An African Childhood – Alexandra Fuller (read in two days for a RL book group) (finished 05/19/2004)
