Ugh. The neighbors on the corner have been using coffee grounds as fertilizer on their lawn. Dunno if/how well it works, but I sure hope my next door neighbors don't copy this idea.

I cant say about it working on lawns. I *can* tell you coffee grounds are *wonderful* for roses. They thrive in acidic soil.
They’ve got it spread over brown patches in the lawn – the grounds are in a really dark, thick layer.
Ugh, used coffee smell. Fresh coffee smell is bad enough. (Yes, I’m one of the weird ones that don’t like coffee or how it smells.)
