Books 38 through 68 (Hoo boy, I'm behind logging these!)
Wow, maybe I should make an effort to post these as I finish, hmm?
38. Wifey – Judy Blume (05/22/2004)
OK, so we went to this Half-Price Books tent sale – lots and lots and lots of paperbacks for a quarter each. Hardbacks for a buck or two. Just how am I supposed to resist something like that, hmm?? So I picked up lots of books, some I've been wanting, some that looked good, some that was good wholesome trash reading. Wifey is one of the latter.
39. Rules of Prey – John Sandford (05/23/2004)
40. Shadow Prey – John Sandford (05/24/2004)
41. Eyes of Prey – John Sandford (05/26/2004)
42. Sudden Prey – John Sandford (05/27/2004)
John Sandford's Prey books are great serial killer/detective stories. They are sequential, but you don't have to have read them all for them to be enjoyable.
43. Rocket Ship Galileo – Robert Heinlein (05/28/2004)
One of the Master's early juveniles – still a good read.
44. Robot Dreams – Issac Asimov (05/30/2004)
More of Asimov's short stories – good stuff.
45. Garden of Shadows – V.C. Andrews (06/01/2004)
Pure trash writing, but oh, so much fun. This one is a prequel to the series that really started with Flowers in the Attic. I do NOT recommend reading this book before Flowers in the Attic as there's some major spoilers in it.
46. Pandora's Clock – John J. Nance (06/03/2004)
A killer virus locked on an airplane, and nobody will let the plane land! This one was a fun thriller – and makes you look at air travel in a whole new way.
47. Scruples – Judith Krantz (06/06/2004)
More trash fun – hey, it's Judith Krantz.
48. Stillwatch – Mary Higgins Clark (06/07/2004)
Mary Higgins Clark always delivers good thrillers. Don't read 'em alone at night!
49. MASH – Richard Hooker (06/09/2004)
This is a good book. The movie MASH was based on this book, which in turn spawned the 11 season TV series.
50. Secret Prey – John Sandford (06/10/2004)
51. Chosen Prey – John Sandford (06/11/2004)
More Prey books my husband picked up for me after my first spree.
52. M is for Malice – Sue Grafton (06/12/2004)
I dearly love Grafton's Alphabet series. One of these days, I'll figure out which ones I have and which ones I need to pick up. Fun mystery novels with a female detective – good stuff.
53. The Brethren – John Grisham (06/15/2004)
Three crooked judges in prison running a pen pal scam; CIA engineering a presidential election. This book was published pre-9/11 – some of the situations in the storyline are downright eerie. I've yet to be disappointed by Grisham.
54. A Cry In The Night – Mary Higgins Clark (06/15/2004)
55. Where Are The Children? – Mary Higgins Clark (06/16/2004)
More good Clark novels.
56. Hannibal – Thomas Harris (06/19/2004)
This was a pretty good read. I still haven't managed to read Silence of the Lambs or see the movie for that matter, but this book stands on its own well enough.
57. Starship – Brian Aldiss (6/21/2004)
A generational starship that has forgotten its origins – a good, classic SF tale.
58. A Wrinkle In Time – Madeleine L'Engle (06/21/2004)
I kept seeing this book pop up on lists here and there, so I figured I ought to read it. It was pretty good, but I wouldn't say it's anything spectacular.
59. Another Fine Myth – Robert Asprin (06/21/2004)
60. Myth Conceptions – Robert Asprin (06/22/2004)
61. Myth Directions – Robert Asprin (06/22/2004)
62. Hit or Myth – Robert Asprin (06/22/2004)
63. Myth-ing Persons – Robert Asprin (06/23/2004)
64. Little Myth Marker – Robert Asprin (06/23/2004)
65. M.Y.T.H. Inc. Link – Robert Asprin (06/24/2004)
66. Myth-Nomers & Im-Pervections – Robert Asprin (06/24/2004)
67. M.Y.T.H. Inc. in Action – Robert Asprin (06/24/2004)
68. Sweet Myth-tery of Life – Robert Asprin (06/24/2004)
Oh lord. Once I start reading these, I keep thinking I have a lisp. These are fun, brainless fantasy, and extremely short reads. So far the Myth universe has held up much better than the Xanth one did.
Now I'm reading two Atwood novels (The Robber Bride and The Edible Women) and to lighten it up I'm also reading Asprin's Myth-ion Improbable and Braun's The Cat Who Smelled a Rat.
