Update in bulleted form: Reading! The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose around the alabaster spire known as the White Tower. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning. Having read #1 – #11 of…

I’m taking two classes this term, Digital Imaging I, and Texas State and Local Government. TX Gov is required by the state for any degree, so I’m stuck with it. Texas government is… peculiar. My other class, however, is just plain fun. My major is history, but I’m thinking of also getting a “photographic artist” certificate, whatever that is. The classes for that are some photography fundamentals, digital imaging classes, a class on web design and small business management. Could be useful, and should be fun and interesting. So! My photoshops, let me show you them! Click on the “thumbnails”1…

Site looks like crap because I’m waiting on a wordpress upgrade. Had to disable all plugins according to GoDaddy. Anyway, no idea how long it will take. I’m really getting sick of very little control over this site. Guess I need to look into hosting options again. Bleh.

PandoraFebruary 1994 – 08/08/2009 Sometime yesterday morning we lost Pandora. We knew it was a matter of time since the suspicion of liver cancer found last November, but it still took us by surprise. She had gone through a few days of not eating much, but had been doing much better. Necropsy showed that there were definitely tumors in her liver, which had hemorrhaged. Pandora was the last of our pre-relationship cats: Rob got her from a shelter when he was in grad school. She was always a grumpy cat, but when she felt like it she was very affectionate.…

I’m at school in the commons, and I’m reading the paper – an actual newspaper – that someone left behind. It seems the Catholic Diocese of Dallas has suggested to its parishioners that they should stay home from mass if they feel sick – good advice, of course. But then it goes on: The diocese also posted on its Web site a letter from Bishop Kevin Farrell, who said he has encouraged priests to consider suspending the use of wine during communion, because it’s offered from a common cup. Farrell also said he has asked the priests to be sure…

Ping ernunnos and gizka (and anyone else with an opinion): So my PPC Powerbook is about to be maybe orphaned by Apple and I’m thinking that a netbook would really be all I need for school. I like having the computer with me, but dang it really adds a lot of weight to my backpack. I think I remember you guys talking about getting netbooks at one point – how do you like them, and do you have any recommendations or warnings?

::: Walks in, brushes dust off the furniture ::: Hi, my name is Jen, and sometimes I post in this ‘blog thingy. OK, so it’s been a while. Nothing big has been going on, just day to day living; mostly good, some annoyances, a little bad – you know, life. I can’t even say I’ve been too “busy” to post, ’cause I could have easily done so. ;) It’s just plain laziness. I’m hoping that I overcome said laziness and make an update soon – but don’t hold your breath. You wouldn’t miss much anyway, just my boring days. :D…

Remember way back in the election frenzy that meme going around about donating to Planned Parenthood in Sarah Palin’s name? I just got a letter from Planned Parenthood today: In response to the anonymous email message circulated back in September during the presidential campaign, urging people to donate to Planned Parenthood in honor of Gov. Sarah Palin, Planned Parenthood (nationally) has received about $1 million from 40,000 donors. Locally we received over 275 gifts totaling close to $5000! Thank you so much for supporting Planned Parenthood! Fuck yeah.
