She&apos;s trying to get a Mirena IUD, and is talking about her doctor, who she says is great and is going to great lengths to help her get this IUD: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p> &#8220;<em>She also worked hard to find an in-network doctor who would be willing to put one in once I had been with my boyfriend for six months.<\/em>&#8220;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Buh?<\/p>\n<p>OK, great, the doc is listening to her patient and helping her get the health care she needs.  But can someone <em>please<\/em> tell me just what the bloody fuck her <strong><em>boyfriend<\/em><\/strong> has to do with Her.  Reproductive. Decision?  And why does it matter that she&apos;s been with him for six months??<\/p>\n<p>Why yes, I <em>am<\/em> still pissed off about having to sign a bloody <em>permission slip<\/em> for my husband to get his vasectomy three years ago.  Never mind the hemming and hawing <em>I<\/em> got when I broached the subject of getting sterilized with the last poke&apos;n&apos;prod doc I went to &#8211; at thirty-eight years old.<\/p>\n<p><em>But what if you change your miiiiiiiiiind?!?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>You think I&apos;d get that song and dance if I walked into an OB\/GYN at 20 years old and said I wanted to get pregnant?<\/p>\n<p>You think that maybe, just maybe, at 30-freaking-9 years old I might <em>know<\/em> that I do not want to bear and\/or raise a child, period?  That if I <em>had<\/em> any semblance of &#8220;maternal instinct&#8221; that it would have kicked in by now?<\/p>\n<p><em>But it&apos;s different when it&apos;s your owwwn!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Yeah, I&apos;m sure it is.  But you know what?
