Stinky Stuff!
I got a yummy package in the mail today from – four different BPAL scents! Thank you so much, I can't wait to give them all a try. Now hurry up and get done with that pesky surgery! :) Here's what she sent: Succubus, Silk Road, Absinthe, and White Rabbit. So tonight, I tried Succubus. It smells interesting in the tube – kinda sharp, but pleasant. I smeared some on my right wrist. First on – kinda bleh, didn't care for it too much, and (of course) was too strong. After it dries, smells pretty good. Kinda incensy. Reminds me…

This book was quite entertaining, and most of the stories were strong. These short stories were a great twist to the old myths – ranging from funny, to mildy chilling, to downright silly. Definitely a great light read!

Mmmm… smoothies…
Health officials: Toddler died from tainted spinach A 2-year-old boy who died from kidney failure last month had been infected with the same strain of E. coli bacteria that sickened at least 192 people and killed one woman in a nationwide outbreak, health officials said Thursday. Kyle Allgood was the second confirmed death in the outbreak, which also killed an elderly Wisconsin woman. Where's the article on the elderly woman? Oh wait, I forgot. Old people aren't as important as teh childrun. The toddler became ill after having a fresh spinach smoothie, according to his mother, Robyn Allgood. Well hell.…

LJ Stuff
So my paid LiveJournal account expires in three days. What with the SixApart changes and all, and having my neatokeen wordpress blog that's more or less completely under my control, I'm really starting to wonder if a paid account is worth it. I don't use voice posts. Polls are cool, but I think I could rig them up on my site, if I wanted to. The livejournal forward email, though useful, is no big deal to me. In fact, I've noticed that recently (Huh, since the buy out) I've been getting spam email directly to the livejournal email address. Cutting…

Pathetic
I just saw the worst political advertisement I've ever seen. I still don't believe exactly what I saw, so I've been looking for it online but I haven't found it yet. It was for Carole Keeton Strayhorn, the self-styled “One Tough Grandma” who's trying to win the Governor spot in Texas. First, she's talking about her greatest accomplishment – her four sons1. Then her greatest joy – yep, her grandchildren. Then she goes on about how she's happy to be married to her husband (her third? fourth? Hell, I don't know) and that he was her childhood sweetheart, but her…

Book Review – Picture This!
The pictures were marvelous and the captions and accompanying text brought the history back to life. I'm no good at reviews, but I definitely enjoyed the book. It brought back memories from history class and childhood, and it was fascinating to read about the inner workings of a news service. Plus, I “know” the author – we've been on a political mailing list for the last 10+ years.

This is neat
This is totally cool. Apparently there was a serious power outage in Downtown Houston. Well, it affected the paper – so for a while their online edition is being published on Moveable Type. I think that's totally cool – even if I can't get to a couple of my comics yet. ;)

Attention BPAL freaks!
OK, so I know I've got a few BPAL addicts on my friends list, and I think I want to find out what all the hubbub is about! However, I have “issues”: Item the first: I'm a complete klutz when it comes to all things girly. I read the descriptions on the BPAL site and I'm completely lost. I read reviews such as 's post here and I'm all “durrrrrrrr… huh?” and wiping drool off my chin. Item the second: The husband, , is sensitive to scents. Perfumes really bug him, as do a lot of chemical odors. It's possible…
