It's been a while…

I'm still around. :)

Thanks to for the LaunchCast link – it's a do-it-yourself radio station. My only problem is I'm digging the music and forget to go *rate* it!

Let's see, what have I been up to lately…

I completely overhauled my web page. It looks pretty good in IE5+, Netscape 6, and Opera. Not so good in Netscape 4.x though. I haven't gotten to the browser detection stage yet.

The other day I spent about 3 and a half hours scanning in some old pictures. Soon I should have them in an album on the site. :)

My desk is again a cesspool piled high with crap. I need to clean it off, but I'm having trouble getting motivated to do much of anything. This is bad.

Still looking for work. Rob had a good (we thought) interview, but they haven't let us know yet. They call and say that it will be a day or two – but they haven't called in a few days.

I had an interview the other day, but didn't get the job. I *know* that we'll both get the jobs we need, but this tech downturn really sucks. I just hope that we get something soon.

On the other hand, my previous job (that I quit because I can't stand phone support any more, among other reasons) just laid off another 20% of it's work force in a third round of layoffs. (They were recently mentioned on fuckedcompany.com) Except for a few friends that lost their jobs this round, I'm highly amused by the whole fiasco.

Last night around 9 or so we were leaving the house to go to the grocery store when this black dog walked up to us. He looked like a lab mix, very sleek, very friendly. He did have a collar and a tag. We called the number on the tag, and got someone definitely not the dog's owner. So we decided to see if the address was near by. Rob checked on mapquest and figured it was over a street or two on the other side of an apartment complex that's a few blocks away. So off we go with the dog (Merlin) on Jake's leash. Jake meanwhile is going spastic because there's a DOG! OUTSIDE! PLAY! MUST PLAY! COMEONPLAYWITHME!!! Poor Jake. He deserved that walk, but we had no way of knowing if Merlin was healthy or not. So we walk over by the complex looking for this street. We keep walking, winding around the nearby neighborhood. Rob's sure it's in that general area. So we wind up walking a mile and a half or so and loop around to the street on the other side of the house. We finally figure out that the street we're looking for is the street that OUR street deadends into. DOH!

So off we go again, down our street. We get no more than a block or so when this really nice red mustang goes tearing past us. Now, I have to digress here a minute and say that our neighborhood has a minor dragracing/loud music from cars/speeding through the neighborhood problem. It's annoying as hell how fast some cars drive through our street to get to a street that unfortunately just begs to be raced on. So when this car goes by I step to the edge of the curb and just glare at it, also trying to get a plate. The car stops, then backs up. Guy rolls down his window, and asks us if we've seen a dog.

“You mean this one?” I ask as Merlin heads toward the car.

So Merlin gets to his people, Rob and I get a nice walk, and we get to keep an extremely black dog from getting hit on a dark night. :)
