Just finished watching A Charlie Brown Christmas, and It's A Wonderful Life. I love that movie, it's so sappy and gets me all teared up at the end.
I don't think I watched it last year, so it was definitely time. But you know, there's one thing that bothers me about it. Mary got her wish – at the expense of every single one of George's dreams and ambitions. That really disturbs me.
Grinch next! Both old, and new. Whee!
That one gets me a bit too.. how George always has to put his life on hold for others. But, not TOO much. Pete commented last time that George was a weenie for other people. But I said (**get ready for the wisdom**) that there are worse ways to spend your life than by making other people happy, plus as he learns in the end, it WAS a Wonderful Life. :) hehehe
Yeah, yeah, and Mary made it wonderful for him, he accepted and embraced his life yadda yadda.
Still doesn’t negate the fact that he gave up everything.
I think what bugs me most is that Mary made her wish knowingly – right after he told her of his dreams.
How is it any different from someone telling me “Oh, you’ll change your mind” when I say I don’t want children?
