Public Servants

You know, when my parents wrote letters to their congressmen and senators, they got back replies that indicated their letter was actually read.

Now? I get a reply that goes something like this:

Dear , Thank you for contacting me regarding [insert topic here].

[insert paragraph about topic, with no apparent acknowledgment of my concerns and that I want the govt. to butt out, and, usually, assurances that said representative is Working Hard To Protect Me.]

Plus, I think the signature is a stamp. Feh.

  1. Why use a stamp when a scanned signature is so much easier to use on the form letters?
At least with the phone calls you can just about see the droid at the other end putting a tally mark on the scrap of paper that will get thrown away at the end of the day.

    1. The intrusive questions that are not anonymous at all. Same thing I rejected 30 years later. Here’s their original letters; story is here. :)
Warning!! I mention “conservative politics” on that page. When I say that, what I really mean (and I probably should clarify that one of these days) is that you could call me fiscally conservative and socially liberal. More like libertarian, actually.
