Books 70 through 96, plus one I missed.

And yet again I put off posting these until I have a huge pile. You'd think I'd learn.

36. Red Rabbit – Tom Clancy (5/10/2004)

70. Myth-Ion Improbable – Robert Asprin (06/25/2004)
71. The Robber Bride – Margaret Atwood (06/28/2004)
72. The Edible Woman – Margaret Atwood (06/30/2004)

Ahhhh, I just love Margaret Atwood. Her writings are so rich and thought-provoking.

73. Mrs. Pollifax and the Whirling Dervish – Dorothy Gilman (07/03/2004)

A fun mystery, with a grandmotherly sleuth. Mrs. Pollifax is resourceful and clever – and way more fun than Jessica Fletcher ever thought of being.

74. Naked Empire (Sword of Truth, Book 8) – Terry Goodkind (07/07/2004)
75. Naked Prey – John Sandford (07/08/2004)
76. The Witching Hour (Lives of the Mayfair Witches) – Anne Rice (07/11/2004)
77. Buy Jupiter, and Other Stories – Issac Asimov (07/13/2004)
78. A Time to Kill – John Grisham (07/24/2004)
79. Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire – Amanda Foreman (07/27/2004)

This was a fascinating book! Sex, scandal, politics, tragedy – plus ?a change, plus c'est le meme chose. I first became interested in the Duchess, when I discovered that she was the subject of a painting I have. It's a chalk copy of Joshua Reynold's painting of the Duchess of Devonshire and her daughter, Little G.

80. From a Buick 8 – Stephen King (07/28/2004)
81. On Writing – Stephen King (07/30/2004)
82. Isaac Asimov's Utopias (08/01/2004)
83. Ball of Fire : The Tumultuous Life and Comic Art of Lucille Ball – Stefan Kanfer (08/06/2004)

I've been getting into reading biographies and memoirs lately. This one was a really good – I've always adored Lucille Ball.

84. Something M.Y.T.H. Inc – Robert Asprin (08/09/2004)
85. Myth Alliances – Robert Asprin (08/10/2004)

86. A Round-Heeled Woman : My Late-Life Adventures in Sex and Romance – Jane Juska (08/12/2004)

I totally recommend this book. It was funny and sad and courageous – it really resonated with me.

87. On a Pale Horse (Incarnations of Immortality, Book 1) – Piers Anthony (08/18/2004)
88. Bearing an Hourglass (Incarnations of Immortality, Book 2) – Piers Anthony (08/19/2004)
89. With a Tangled Skein (Incarnations of Immortality, Book 3) – Piers Anthony (08/20/2004)
90. Wielding a Red Sword (Incarnations of Immortality, Book 4) – Piers Anthony (08/22/2004)
91. Being a Green Mother (Incarnations of Immortality, Book 5) – Piers Anthony (08/23/2004)
92. For Love of Evil (Incarnations of Immortality, Book 6) – Piers Anthony (08/25/2004)
93. And Eternity (Incarnations of Immortality, Book 7) – Piers Anthony (08/26/2004)

Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality series is a fun read. This is the way the Cosmos ought to be run!

94. The Blind Assassin – Margaret Atwood (09/04/2004)

My favorite Atwood novel is The Handmaid's Tale. The Blind Assassin is now my second favorite.

95. Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood – Rebecca Wells (09/07/2004)

I did not expect to like this novel. I picked it up for a buck at the Half-Price tent sale on a whim, after hearing/reading “Ya-Ya” this and “Ya-Ya” that regarding the movie. I loved this book. Funny and heartbreaking, it's the story of a daughter's journey to find herself in her mother's past and in her own present. This is one I'll keep and read again.

96. Ella Enchanted) – Gail Carson Levine (09/09/2004)

and I saw Ella Enchanted the other day and I thought it was funny and charming – sorta like a cross between a live-action Shrek and The Princess Bride. I saw the book yesterday and had to read it. It's definitely a kid's book, but it was a terrific take on the Cinderella fairy tale. The movie definitely didn't follow the book, but I think it captured the spirit and flavour quite well. I enjoyed both.

On another note, I'd have to say that The Princess Bride is a rarity: the movie was much better than the book.
