    Scanner Tag!

Tagged by I'm told that you must write something — anything — and send to five people or you will die of boredom. Well, this was an.. interesting meme. First time I've tried to hook up the scanner on my PowerBook, and apparently the first time I've tried to edit a picture! Neither one of which worked properly. Bah. Gaz detected the scanner fine; at least, it showed up properly in system profiler. However, it no worky at all. The scanner never even tried to light up, even when I pushed the “scan” button on the scanner itself. As for…

    Food for thought

The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all. – H. L. Mencken

I love books, could you tell? 2) The last book I bought? OK, so this past weekend we made a trip to the Evil Store™ – a 75% off book store where, in fact, no book is over $5.00. This is a very Bad Place if your bookshelves are already overflowing. Two of the books I bought are: The Myth of Homeland Security by Marcus J. Ranum and Pain Management by Andrew…

    Nice kitty…

Mouse is fixed, and I think even my palm is fixed. And oooooh the dashboard is nifty. I'm using the LJ widget now! I think has beaten Samba into submission, but I'm not sure.

    Tyger, Tyger, burning bright…

Hrmph. It's pretty, and perhaps peppier (dunno as I've been using it for about 7 and a half minutes now) but it broke my mouse. And my palm. The jury's still out about Mail, also. Judging from the swearing going on across the room, the Samba share is not cooperating, either. NetNewsWire, Firefox, Xjournal, Adium all seem fine. Widgets are nifty. I dunno, I think I'll go watch more Babylon 5 and play with this later.

    What a wonderful weekend!

So after the debacle last year, we decided not to go to Scarborough for our anniversary this year. San Antonio has been on our List for quite a while now, and we hadn't yet been, so we drove down there Friday afternoon. We chose the Menger Hotel because wanted to stay in a haunted hotel. The Menger was built in 1859 right next to the Alamo. It is supposedly haunted by several ghosts, including William Menger and a chambermaid who was murdered by her common law husband. Though our room was in the original part of the hotel, unfortunately (or…
