10:26 am – What is the point of being a “low water use facility” when all it means is that you have to flush the toilets twice every time? And don't get me started about the necessity of posting a flyer in every stall with a “reminder to flush”. 11:25 am – Employment really is a Good ThingTM! Rob has a job now too, and it seems like something he can really get into. A happy husband is also a very Good ThingTM. I know that I feel a lot better, certainly a lot less depressed. Hopefully I can now…

Broken stream of consciousness, redux
10:51 am – So maybe this is stupid, but it amuses me to write these entries on my Palm. Currently my job is very boring. A lot of time just waiting for call backs or the right time to call someone. My supervisor is quite surprised that I have common sense. I've brought up several issues that they hadn't considered. They've hinted at more things they want me to do when this part is done. That's good because I hate interviewing and I really need this paycheck. It's bad because I'm not sure that this is a place I want…

Broken stream of consciousness
10:25 am – So I'm on a 3 week project. I have 60 people to contact on the phone and walk through an anti-virus install. It's a lot of waiting for call backs. As of yesterday (4 days in) I'm 56% done. 11:13 am – I forgot to mention that this disjointed entry is being written in Graffiti on my Palm. I (heart) my Palm. 2:36 pm – Happiness is a ham sandwich prepared by your loving spouse. 2:54 pm – Upside: weekends mean something again. Downside: no more mid-week matinees. 3:11 pm – I think I want to be…

De ja view
I was just browsing someone's journal (which I've never browsed before) and I read an entry which I know I've seen before — verbatim — in someone else's LJ. I don't remember that entry being attributed to anyone else at that time, nor does the one I just read give credit to the other author. Plagiarism? In LJ? Yipes.

Employment…
… is a good thing, even if it's extremely temporary. Got a job finally, but it's a 3 or 4 week project. I've contracted off and on before, but never for that short of a time. Unless, of course, you count the one day that I sat in a builder's model home and handed out brochures. The same day I interviewed for this 3 week gig I had another interview at a job I “wanted” (not that I actually want to do tech support), but I guess I blew that interview. They said that I “didn't seem suited for a…

Bring back Schoolhouse Rock!
In 1787 I'm told Our founding fathers did agree To write a list of principles For keepin' people free. Apparently it's needed. This article is from the San Francisco Examiner, July 4, 1999. Here's an excerpt: Edgar, a 19-year-old from Antioch and a graduate of Pittsburg High School who declined to give his last name, said he knew we celebrate the Fourth because it's Independence Day. But the country we were fighting with? “That I don't (know),” he said. “I want to say Korea. I'm tripping.” Asked how long ago it might have been, Edgar took a guess. “Like 50…

Sweat
I hate yardwork. Just under general principles, but especially when it's 91 degrees out and over 50% humidity. But the bushes are whacked back into submission. Sort of.
