    Day 51

Weigh-in today was 280.6, down another 1.2 pounds for a total of 11.2 pound loss since I started. I can live with that. I feel better: I haven't been eating nearly as much crap, nor have I been eating too large portion sizes. I've also been taking a vitamin every day which is extremely unusual for me. I'm taking the weight loss on faith right now – I can't wait until I can actually tell that something is happening! Minor grouch: I wish that there was a 50+ WW group near me. It's annoying seeing these women who have 10-20…

    Ebooks

I really want to like the ebook concept. I really want to use them. But right now, they are not yet viable in my opinion. First off, I have a Palm IIIe. I love this pda, but reading books on it isn't easy yet. I do only when I forget to or can't carry a book. I have Microsoft Reader, but reading books sitting at my desk on the computer isn't the way I like to read. I can only read for so long on the computer. OK, on the laptop it's a little better, but still awkward. I want…

    Stuff

    1. who is your biggest supporter? My husband – he's been so fantastic. I look back to the last time I attempted WW when I was with the ex-bf and I'm blown away by the contrast. 2. who is your saboteur? No external saboteurs right now, but I like carbs and dislike veggies a little too much. I'm working on that. 3. what food do you think everyone should know about? (on that has helped you out, or a great lowfat food that we should all be aware of..) What helps me take this as a new way of life…

    Memememe

Snagged from Your meme, should you choose to accept it, is to rank the following bands in order, from COULDN'T LIVE WITHOUT to COULDN'T CARE LESS. To add value to this process, you must also add one band to the list, and remove one band from the list, before passing the meme on (including these instructions). From the good to the bad: Styx (added) Queen REM Paul Simon Eric Clapton The Eagles The Beatles Fleetwood Mac Depeche Mode Barenaked Ladies Oingo Boingo (cut)

    Copyrights and thieves… (part 2)

Here's part 2 of Orson Scott Card's article on mp3's, music sharing and the RIAA: The real gripe for the record companies is not these fictional “lost sales.” What's keeping them up at night is the realization that musicians don't need record companies any more. Musicians can go into a studio, record their own music exactly as they want it, and not as some executive says they have to record it because “that's what the kids want.” Then they can sell CDs at their live performances and set up online, with a bunch of MP3s that people can share around.…

    Silencing dissent

http://www.inthesetimes.com/comments.php?id=370_0_1_0_C In late April, two teen-age students in Oakland, California, got an unwelcome, real-life lesson in civics. During a heated class discussion at Oakland High School about politics and President Bush, the boys made comments the exact nature of which are in dispute, but which their teacher believed constituted a threat toward the president. The teacher went to the FBI. Secret Service agents showed up at the high school the next day to interview the boys, both 16. The school principal sat in for an hour and a half as agents interviewed each student individually, without their parents? knowledge or…

    D&B

and I like to go to Dave & Buster's every once in a while, so we had a bunch of voucher slips that we needed to convert before 10/1, and also somehow we'd accumulated a handful of comp cards. We decided to go last night to preserve our ticket vouchers and to drain the extra cards to get rid of them. After all is said and done, we wound up with 5400 tickets – so we spent half of them on this:
