Ebooks

I really want to like the ebook concept. I really want to use them. But right now, they are not yet viable in my opinion.

First off, I have a Palm IIIe. I love this pda, but reading books on it isn't easy yet. I do only when I forget to or can't carry a book. I have Microsoft Reader, but reading books sitting at my desk on the computer isn't the way I like to read. I can only read for so long on the computer. OK, on the laptop it's a little better, but still awkward.

I want Them to come out with a reader about the size, and definitely the heft of a standard mass market paperback book – and I don't mean any of Robert Jordan's books!! Then, it has to be intuitive to use and easy on the eyes. Then I will be happy to go anywhere with it.

Now, price. Given the above, I see no reason whatsoever to spend $7.99 on an ebook, when I can get the paperback for, um, $7.99.

Hopefully the industry will get a clue.
