Rita went east instead of west and Austin got nothing. No rain, no wind to speak of, no thunderstorms. Bah. In fact, it's hotter than it has been. Again, bah.
Paying off all of our credit card debt is going to feel fantastic.
Heavily doctored spaghetti sauce is teh yum. Chicken, sausage, onions, garlic, mushrooms… mmmm. Plus enough leftovers to freeze for easy dinners later.
The Fifth Element is a really bad movie. But I liked it a lot.
Jerry Doyle is way yummier than Bruce Willis.
Linucon is looking like it's going to be a lot of fun this year too.
Also, I'm getting my hair cut and colored next week. Whee!

By the numbers..
1 – It wasn’t the worse movie I’ve ever seen, but it is very much a guilty pleasure to watch every now and then.
2 – Jerry Doyle has a kick-ass weekly radio talk show that I listen to on a regular basis. And he was great on B5.
3 – Linux? FREAK!! LOL
Seriously, I hope you have a great time. And don’t spare the photos of the new do’.

Re: By the numbers..
1 – agreed. Last night was the first time I’d ever seen it all the way through!
2 – Yeah, just discovered that. Pay to stream it though – we’ll see how good the newsletter is before I think about that. Too bad there isn’t a podcast or anything.
3 – Heh – hey, my mac is a ‘nix box underneath all the pretty. But linucon is also games and anime – hopefully it’ll be as good as last year was. :)

Linucon – I remember sqlrob and you going last year. I wish I had known it would be going on this year, too. I would like to go. Maybe next year, I will make a trip down to Austin for “Linucon.”

You should!
Last year was fantastic. I hope this year is as well, though I’m a little worried. It’s next Friday, and they still haven’t cashed my check. I sent an email, and they said they had it. Hrmm. Well, I hope it’s good.

I just recently built a new PC and installed Fedora on it. I think that I may take the advice of co-worker in a another company and work on becoming a systems programmer. So, I am going to work on understanding and getting a handle on the LAMP methodologies.
sqlrob
LAMP isn’t systems programming, that’s enterprise. More likely to get you a job than Linux systems programming though.
Regardless, the understanding of either doesn’t hurt. There are different mindsets between the two, you do have to learn to switch gears.

Doh! I guess that made me sound stupid. *blush* Actually, I had started down the PHP path and this guy heads up the Linux/HP UNIX systems where he works. He told me that LAMP was probably the best way to go in today’s industry.
Of course, he thinks I should also become a systems programmer. Right now, I have gotten myself pigeon-holed into code control management and I hate it.

The Fifth Element one of the best cheesy sci-fi movies ever made. It’s ALL so overacted, that it doesn’t seem overacted. Saw a commercial for it tonight and now it’s on the list of movies to hunt for on DVD.
PS – it’s even better after a few strong margaritas ;-)

This is totally unrelated. But I wanted to say “hi”. So, “hi”. We are the only people who are listed as going to school at Oregon City during that time period. I think I know who you are, but it doesn’t really matter anymore. Thats all behind us now and we’re on to bigger and better things. So you live in Austin now. Normally I’d tell you how amazingly cool that is and go off about bull riding (which I love) but you’ve been having some nasty weather in Texas right now. I’m glad you are okay though. See you around!

As always, I’m late w/ reply comments!
Hi!
I must confess I don’t know who you are, but then I don’t exactly try to remember much of high school. ;)
It’s funny – when I first discovered the “school” thing on the bio page, the only people who had put OCHS down were either going there now or in the 90’s or had started HS in ’87.
Anyway, Hi!
Bull riding?? Wow, sounds cool. Painful, too. ;)
