Jake is a weird dog.
We feed him in the morning, but he usually ignores his food then. He only eats when we're sitting at the table eating.
If for some reason we don't eat at the table, he'll eventually eat his food, by 9 or 10 pm.
None of our pets are normal creatures. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. :)
just a question..our dog does the same thing….she waits till we’re at the table also..I’ve read about this habit in parrots..it’s called “social eating”….but dogs?! Ours is a husky and I hear they also are known for being weird with food..what kind of dog do you have?
Jake is the sweetest, smartest, most perplexing dog I’ve ever known. He stuns me with how good he is, even with my half-assed training.
He’s an Australian Cattledog (blue heeler, Queensland heeler) mix – we’re not sure what he’s mixed with. Some say Chow, though I don’t think so. A couple of people have guessed Akita, though the only Akita I’ve met in real life was HUGE! – his shoulders were up to my waist. Jake is quite a bit taller than most cattledogs though, and his head and muzzle are broader. What with that tail, perhaps it’s some spitz-type breed.
Social eating, huh. Maybe it’s some sort of puppy imprinting? We got Jake from a shelter last June – they said he was about a year or so old.
Is that your husky in your user pic? What a cutie. :)
yeah..that’s Sula in her “den” under the console table
