I have to put my baby to sleep today. It's time – he's in too much pain and I have to do it. :( He's been with me for 11 years – through many moves and several boyfriends. He went through a man-hating period, but fell in love with my husband. Perhaps the furry mouse Rob brought to our first date helped. This sucks.

I am so sorry. That is such a hard thing to do.

Thank you. Yeah, it did well and truly suck. :(

Aw.

Thanks. I know it had to be done, but ugh.

Aw honey, why is he in pain? I am soooo sorry. That is the hardest thing. My heart goes out to you.
My Maui is my child. MY CHILD. I am soo soooo sooooo sorry.

Thanks.
He had chronic renal failure and bad arthritis. The CRF was under control, but his legs kept getting worse.
He’s not in pain now.

Oh christ
I’m so very, very sorry. I’m looking back and forth between your beautiful Siamese and mine and trying really really hard not to cry. I just went through this same thing four months ago, and you have my utmost sympathy. What an absolutely gorgeous cat.
I know everyone will tell you this, but I’m going to add mine to the chorus anyway because it’s true enough to repeat: You are doing the right thing. You gave him an excellent life, and that’s so much more than so many animals get. Remember the good times, forget the bad, and know that you were the best possible thing that ever happened to him.
I’ll be thinking of you.

Re: Oh christ
Thanks Harry. Your little Mira (and Rain too!) are beautiful kittens and I love to see pictures of them. It’s too bad that we only get to have them for a little while. It seems just last year that Kamir was a feisty adolescent.

I’m so sorry you and kitty have to go through this. Clearly, he has been a integral part of your family all these years. How blessed you are to have had him.

Thanks Teri. He was definitely an onery little brat. He terrorized a friend of mine. He scared the vet. But he was affectionate as anything to me and Rob.

So sorry about your cat. I just lost my cream-colored Persian, Pushkin, a few weeks ago from renal failure. He was one of several cats I “inherited” from my mother after she passed away. I didn’t have the heart to give them up. Pushkin wasn’t in pain, and there wasn’t anything further the vet could do, so I let him slip away peacefully at home. The evening I realized it would be his last night, I put Pushkin in an isolated corner, petted him one last time, and that was that. He was gone when I woke up the next morning. Although he was a mature cat, Pushkin still frolicked around the house until the last few days of his life. I try to remember all the good times he had, but I also remember the times I pushed him away when he wanted some attention. I guess we have busy lives, but we’re all our pets have.

Thank you for your note! :)
I’m sorry to hear about your Pushkin – they get to us, don’t they?
Our 12 year old girl cat is more active and playful than our 7 year old – it’s pretty funny. Hopefully she’ll be with us for quite a while.

What a beautiful Meezer!! I’m sorry for your loss. Take what comfort you can in knowing that your love was strong enough for you to make the hard choice.

I agree with the last comment–a beautiful kitty! Siamese are special cats, aren’t they? I’m so sorry for your loss.
