2 Girls Accused of Killing 16 Year Old
NEW ORLEANS (AP) – A crowd of children and teen-agers attacked and killed a 16-year-old in front of her home Saturday, police said.
Vinicia Smith was apparently killed in a neighborhood feud, said Sgt. Paul Accardo, a New Orleans police spokesman.
He said two girls, aged 12 and 14, were booked as juveniles on second-degree murder charges. Police were looking for more boys and girls, he said.
Seven to 10 people attacked Smith, and one stabbed her with a steak knife, Accardo said.
Witnesses pointed out the 12-year-old, and the 14-year-old surrendered moments later, Accardo said.
Boy accused of attacking sleepover host with knife
BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) — A 12-year-old boy who had left a sleepover party after a disagreement returned to the party a few minutes later and attacked his host with a knife, police said Sunday.
Police said that shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday, the party's 15-year-old host asked the younger boy to leave. Police said the boy left, then returned a few minutes later, grabbed a knife from a dresser and tried to cut the host's throat.
The older boy threw up his hands to protect himself, and got his forearm cut. He then grabbed the knife handle, police said, but the younger boy grabbed the blade and ripped the knife from the older boy's hands, cutting him again.
Another guest pulled the younger boy away and he left the party again, but was apprehended by police while trying to enter his home.
The host was taken to a hospital and treated for cuts to his right hand and left forearm, police said.
