I laugh, so that I do not cry

A positive aspect of the Bush legacy The international community now has a potent new motivating tool to dissuade world leaders from engaging in tyranny and aggression — tell them they’ll be like George Bush if they do it: Nicolas Sarkozy saved the President of Georgia from being hanged “by the balls” — a threat made last summer by Vladimir Putin, according to an account that emerged yesterday from the Elysee Palace. . . . The Russian seemed unconcerned by international reaction. “I am going to hang Saakashvili by the balls,” Mr Putin declared. Mr Sarkozy thought he had misheard.…

11:51 am Well, I just finished my Government test. I’m fairly pleased, I think I was as ready for it as possible, considering my… tendencies. The multiple guess was a piece of cake, as usual, and the short answer (11 fairly detailed questions, omit one) weren’t too bad. I know I lost a point or two on one – I couldn’t for the life of me remember a current case or topic that’s on the Supreme’s docket – but other than that I think I did all right. I couldn’t skip that particular question, because there was another question I…

    Grf.

Well, tomorrow’s my third government exam. I should do well, but I’m still a bit… worried isn’t exactly the word. Maybe anxious is closer. Either way, I must do really well on it, or else. Blah. Still kicking myself. Originally published at Jen’s Corner. You can comment here or there.

    Skool Daze

School has been going well for me. I really enjoy it, and I look forward to taking more classes. Well, except maybe for the Speech requirement. So far I’ve got a 4.0, but alas, that will change this term. The best grade I can hope for in my U.S. Government (yeah, go figure) class is a B. I was incredibly stupid, and didn’t start my paper until it was much too late, so it was nowhere near complete when it had to be handed in. Yeah. Believe me, I’m kicking myself. Oh well. Onward, and all that. Not sure what…

    Photo post: Backyard

Today was another beautiful day – cool and breezy. I decided to take some pictures in the back yard. My dog is such a ham, he always gets excited when I grab the camera. I didn’t get too many good shots, but here’s some that I liked: Grackle Jake It makes you blink, when 65 pounds of dog comes barrelling at you with that look on his face… Originally published at Jen’s Corner. Photo Post: Austin Zoo

Today was a beautiful day, cool and clear, so we decided to go to the Austin Zoo again. Bobo the Cockatoo is just inside the gates, and all he really wants in life is a neck scritch. If you succumb to the temptation, Bobo leans into your fingers and closes his eyes in bliss.

    Writer's Block: Short Days

Winter comforts: Sitting on the couch, wrapped up in a blanket, sipping hot chocolate. Warmfuzzysocks. Hot soup and crackers. Austin doesn’t really get that cold, and winters are never winter although we do get “snow” every few years: Sometimes I miss Vancouver, Washington. I used to like the rain, and the green is so beautiful. It didn’t snow often there, either… But snow was close, if you needed it: Sometimes I miss seasons. Originally published at Jen’s Corner. Thwarted Plans

sqlrob‘s birthday is this week and, of course, Giftmas is coming up fast so on a whim I searched ebay for a book he’s been looking for – an out of print (at the moment) Red Iron Nights. Found it, autographed even, so I bought it. Guess who saw the page before I could click away? Grr. Originally published at Jen’s Corner. You can comment here or there.

    Movies, Hotdogs, and Books

Since the one year I tried NaNoWriMo I managed to write myself into a corner in less than 100 words, I’ve decided to instead sign up for NaBloPoMo! I did manage posting every day for one month a couple of years ago, so I should be able to do it again. Visit NaBloPoMo Anyway, Halloween was nice. Apparently the neighborhood does manage to observe the “no lights, no candy” custom, so no one knocked on the door. This left us free to watch the movies that y’all chose for us! :D First up was Plan 9 from Outer Space. It…

    Halloween Movies!

[EDIT:Beetlejuice & Plan 9 From Outer Space it is! Thanks for the help, y’all! :D] It’s Halloween and sqlrob and I are planning on turning off the porch light, barricading ourselves in the house and watching scary/halloweenish movies. But, we can’t decide what we want to watch! Help us decide! I’ve made it a checkbox so you can check more than one, but remember, we will have to sleep sometime…
